Cassano Earns Another Perfect “100” Score From Environmental Group

For the second time in the past three years, State Senator Steve Cassano (D-Manchester) has earned a perfect “100” score from the Connecticut League of Conservation Voters (CTLCV) for his thoughtful and heroic defense of Connecticut’s natural resources and the enormous quality of life benefits that clean water, air, soil and open spaces bring to Connecticut’s residents.

This year, Sen. Cassano was lauded for his commitment to protecting a variety of environmental priorities, including pollinator health, consumer packaging waste, notice of tree removal, the state water plan, and granting ‘Wild and Scenic’ designation to Connecticut’s Housatonic River

“Being co-chairman of the Planning and Development Committee, sometimes it has been difficult to achieve a perfect score from the CTLCV, but over the past few years I’ve made it a priority to work with the Environment Committee on legislation, to negotiate and compromise with them on bills, and to get good environmental legislation passed instead of seeing it wither on the vine,” Sen. Cassano said. “I think one of the results of that bipartisan, moderate approach of mine is two perfect environmental scores over the past three years. My commitment to our environment is also reflected in my work getting the Metropolitan District Commission to sell 700 acres of watershed land to Glastonbury to maintain as open space, with the state paying two-thirds the cost of the purchase price. It all adds to our top-notch quality of life here in Connecticut.”

The CTLCV is a bipartisan, statewide, nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting Connecticut’s environment by making it a priority for our elected leaders. As a legislative watchdog, the CTLCV helps to pass laws that protect Connecticut’s air, water, wildlife, and open space.
