Opioid Awareness Rally at the State Capitol Thursday, 5:30 P.M.

State Senator Steve Cassano (D-Manchester) will join Justicesfight, Today I Matter, and the Manchester CT HOPE Initiative at 5:30 p.m. this Thursday, August 31, on the south grounds of the State Capitol in Hartford (facing the State Library and Supreme Court) to recognize International Overdose Awareness Day and to honor those loved ones who have died or were seriously injured due to an opioid-related overdose.

The rally comes on the heels of a recent prediction by the state medical examiner that Connecticut could see nearly 1,100 accidental drug overdose deaths by the end of this year, mostly fueled by the increased use of the opiate drug fentanyl.

Attendees are asked to create signs with pictures of their loved ones; luminary bags will also be on hand to symbolize lost loved ones that people can write messages on.
